Usual dose for Surgical Prophylaxis:
Initial dose:15mg/KG IV
Usual dose for Pelvic Inflammatory Disease:
Loading dose: 15 mg/kg IV
Maintenance dose: 7.5 mg/kg IV every 6 hours
Oral: 7.5 mg/kg orally every 6 hours
Maximum dose: 4 g per day
Usual duration of therapy: 7 to 10 days
Flagyl dosage for Diverticulitis
Loading dose will be 15 mg/kg IV and maintenance dose will be 7.5mg/kg IV every 6 hours.
An oral dose of 7.5 mg/kg orally every 6 hours. Maximum dose allowed for Flagyl is 4g per day with usual therapy being 7 to 10 days.

Flagyl And Alcohol
Flagyl and alcohol do not mix well and it is not recommended to drink while you are taking this drug. Mixing Flagyl alcohol can cause nausea, vomiting, flushing and server headache.
