What is bactrim used for
Bactrim contains a combination of sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim which are are both antibiotics that treat different types of infection caused by bacteria. Bactrim is used to treat ear infections, urinary tract infections, bronchitis, traveler’s diarrhea, shigellosis, and Pneumocystis jiroveci pneumonia.
Bactrim DS is used for treating infections caused by certain bacteria. It is also used to prevent certain infections. Bactrim DS is an bactrim antibiotic combination containing a sulfonamide antibiotic. It works by killing sensitive bacteria.
Do not use bactrim if you are allergic to any ingredient in Bactrim DS or to any other sulfonamide (sulfa) medicine (eg, glipizide, hydrochlorothiazide)
you have a history of low blood platelet levels (immune thrombocytopenia) caused by trimethoprim or a sulfa medicine
you have liver damage or severe kidney problems
you have anemia caused by low levels of folate in the blood
the patient is a child younger than 2 months old
you are taking dofetilide or methenamine

Bactrim to dogs

Bactrim ds Dosage
Bactrim dosage: tablets are white and round and contain 80 milligrams (mg) of trimethoprim and 400 mg of sulfamethoxazole.
Bactrim DS tablets are white and oval, containing 160 mg of trimethoprim and 800 mg of sulfamethoxazole.
Take the medication as directed by your doctor until you finish the prescription, even if you feel better.
Failure to do so may help create bacteria that are resistant to treatment.
Signs and symptoms of Bactrim overdose include:
Fluctuating pain in the abdomen
Nausea and vomiting
Anemia or other blood disorders
If you suspect an overdose, you should contact a poison-control center or emergency room immediately.
If someone else has collapsed or isn’t breathing, call 9-1-1 for emergency help right away.
Bactrim Missed Dose
Take your missed dose as soon as you remember it.
